SERVICE CALL
020:FATAL ERROR
The firmware DIMM is faulty. This is quite a common fault with this printer and is easy to repair.
Grab the handle on the front of the printer and open the paper feed assembly. Open the lid. Remove the one screw on the top of the right hand side cover and remove the cover.
Facing the right side of the printer, about half way along and near the bottom of the pinter, you will see the firmware DIMM sticking out of the metal shield. This is the part you need to replace.
Just release the clips either side of the Dimm and it will pop out.
One thing you need to know is that there are two versions of logic board and each uses a different DIMM. If you look through the holes in the metal shield, somewhere on the board you will see SPA or OWL printed on the board. These are the names of the two versions.
It's not too important what version of main logic board you have in your printer because the part numbers are printed on the DIMM. You will see two sets of eight digit numbers. The part number for the firmware DIMM you require is the eight digit number that is inside brackets.
For your convenience, here are the part numbers for the two different firmware DIMMS:
ROM DIMM for SPA PWB 42010613
ROM DIMM for OWL PWB 42010602
